In this clip you will hear James speaking about the sense of excitement in the Defence Forces in 1978 when Irish troops began serving in Lebanon [UNIFIL]. He recalls that he was living in Griffith Barracks at the time and out of his window he saw a convoy of white vehicles coming up the canal towards Cathal Brugha barracks. From here they were going to Dublin airport for transport to Lebanon. He recalls his feelings three trips [eighteen months] later when he still hadn't 'gotten a go'
